So here we are at the beginning of November, and the Championship table has now started to open up, with some teams making good progre s towards the Premier League but others nervously looking over their shoulders towards League 1.. In the former category are Southampton, West Ham and the slightly unlikely duo of Middlesbrough and Derby. Southampton have carved out a 5 point lead at the top of the table, thanks to some incredible home victories (100% record at St Marys this season) and gritty away results (for example the 1-1 at Reading, equalising after they went down to 10 men). Three key players for them have been Adam Lallana, Guly Do Prado and Ricky Lambert, between them hitting 18 league goals, and they look an exciting and powerful outfit.Other teams forging ahead of the pack have been West Ham, Middlesbrough and Crystal Palace (the latter benefiting from strong form at Selhurst Park). The Hammers have been good at home and have had some spectacular Kool-Aid McKinstry Jersey results away, while Middlesbrough have played a brand of counter-attacking football very suitable to away games. However, all of these teams have been fairly inconsistent, and could all be replaced by teams like Derby, Hull (on a particularly good away run at the moment) and Cardiff (after an outstanding 3-0 win at Derby). Out of the teams expected to win promotion this season, Leicester and Birmingham have not quite clicked so far, although if the latter win their three games in hand then they will go 2nd. Leicester on the other hand have been somewhat of a disappointment, which resulted in Sven being perhaps unfairly being given the sack.Moving on into mid-table, Blackpool, Ipswich and Brighton could all move into the playoff places if they showed some consistent form, while Peterborough will be highly satisfied with a comfortable place in the middle of the pack with 3 months of the season gone. As for teams who will not be highly satisfied, Reading and Burnley have both offered promise this season, but too many damaging home defeats mean they sit 16th and 17th. Notts Forest meanwhile have been slightly reinvigorated since the appointment of Steve Cotterill as manager, yet they still hover dangerously in 19th, only 5 points above the drop zone. However, there is a good chance that by Christmas all 3 of these teams will have found some form and started to climb the table. There are also some clubs down at the bottom of the league who I fully expect to stay there. These include Doncaster, Barnsley and Coventry, who do not appear to have the quality to survive. Donny urgently need Billy Sharp fit and firing, Barnsley need to turn Oakwell into a fortre s, and Coventry really need to buy-and buy well-in January. Will Hodo Jersey
